On their first day of working in the Netherlands both Tom Paton and Mark Miles were baffled by the fact that a fulltime position of stakeholdermanager even existed. A week later, they fully understood why. The Netherlands is very densely populated, so a lot of interests come together when you start to work. Furthermore, the people are very well informed and inquisitive. There is a big culture on planning in the Netherlands. That has it's downsides, because you have to spend a lot of timing preparing whereas in other countries you'd just simply go outside and start the work. The upside however is that you can mitigate risks beforehand, so that the execution itself goes a lot smoother.
